About Densford Civil

Densford Civil is a well-established civil construction contractor delivering projects across the Perth metro area. With a workforce of around 100 employees and a strong pipeline of work across the north, south, and east, the company has built a reputation for practical delivery and a genuine commitment to safety.

What sets Densford apart is its culture. This is a business where people stay. Many team members have been with the company for over a decade. The environment is relaxed, down-to-earth, and free from overly corporate structures, while still maintaining high standards and accountability.

With a new office in O’Connor opening in October 2026 and a long-tenured HSEQ Coordinator transitioning toward retirement, this is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role and make a meaningful impact on the future of safety across the business.

About the Opportunity

Densford Civil is looking for a full-time HSE Manager based in O’Connor, WA.

Reporting to the Directors, this role will lead and support a small HSE team while taking ownership of the company’s health, safety, and environmental systems, ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, and strong engagement across all sites.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a small HSE team (Advisor and Assistant)
  • Managing and improving HSE systems, procedures, and compliance across all projects
  • Conducting and overseeing site inspections and ensuring safety standards are maintained
  • Leading incident investigations, including ICAM processes and corrective actions
  • Managing HSE reporting, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintaining accreditations (ISO, OFSC) and overseeing IMS audits and updates
  • Supporting project teams, supervisors, and directors with practical safety guidance
  • Facilitating communication across the business, including toolbox talks and safety updates
  • Attending client meetings and representing HSE at a leadership level
  • Monitoring legislative changes and ensuring organisational compliance

About You

To be considered, you will need a relevant Diploma or Degree in WHS (or similar), along with a White Card, and a valid driver’s licence. A minimum of 8–10+ years’ experience in HSE, ideally within civil construction or a related industry, will be essential.

You will also bring strong knowledge of WHS legislation and management systems auditing.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • ICAM Lead Investigator training
  • Experience leading HSE teams within construction or civil environments
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO systems and accreditation processes
  • Ability to engage effectively with site teams, supervisors, and leadership
  • Confidence in incident investigation, reporting, and risk management
  • High-level communication and stakeholder management skills

As our ideal candidate, you will be a practical and approachable leader not overly corporate, but confident, credible, and able to build trust across all levels of the business. You will bring fresh thinking, balanced with hands-on experience, and the ability to influence without overcomplicating processes.

This is a key leadership role suited to someone who can step in, understand the existing environment, and gradually take ownership while adding value and modernising where needed. It’s an opportunity to shape the function, not just maintain it.

About the Benefits

You'll be rewarded with a Competitive Salary + Super, aligned with your experience, along with:

  • Company vehicle provided
  • Stable, long-term leadership opportunity
  • Direct access to Directors and influence on business decisions
  • Supportive, experienced team with strong tenure
  • Opportunity to shape and evolve the HSE function
  • Exposure to diverse civil projects across Perth

If you’re looking for a leadership role where you can make a genuine impact, without the constraints of a heavily corporate environment, this is your opportunity.
