Take the Lead in a Role Designed for the Future
If you're an experienced HSE professional ready to take the next step in your career, this is an opportunity to do more than manage safety, you'll help shape the future of it.
Densford Civil is investing in its Health, Safety & Environment function as the business continues to grow. As Senior HSE Advisor, you'll work alongside a highly respected HSE Coordinator, bringing fresh ideas, strengthening systems and supporting the next generation of HSE professionals before ultimately transitioning into the leadership of the function.
This is a rare opportunity to join a stable, family-owned civil contractor with a clear succession plan, genuine leadership opportunities and the support to make a lasting impact.
About Densford Civil
Established in 1991, Densford Civil has grown into one of Western Australia's trusted civil construction contractors, delivering infrastructure projects across metropolitan Perth and regional WA.
With approximately 100 employees, long-standing client relationships and an outstanding staff retention record, Densford has built its reputation on quality, practical delivery and putting people first.
As the business continues to grow, it's expanding its HSE team and relocating to a modern Head Office in O'Connor, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced safety professional to help shape the future of the organisation.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out. A Genuine Succession Opportunity.
This isn't simply another Senior HSE Advisor role.
You'll work closely with the long-tenured HSE Coordinator, learning the business, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and progressively stepping into greater leadership responsibilities over time.
If you've been looking for the opportunity to move into HSE leadership without being thrown in the deep end, this role offers exactly that.
This is also a role with a clear future. With a long-tenured member of the HSE leadership team moving toward retirement, Densford is looking for someone who wants to grow into a management position in the next 2-5 years. If you're at that stage of your career where you're ready to step up, hungry for more responsibility, and looking for a business that will back you, this is worth your attention.
Lead and Mentor a Growing Team
As Densford expands its HSE capability, you'll become a key mentor for both the HSE Advisor and HSE Assistant, helping build capability across the team while fostering a positive, proactive safety culture.
Your leadership won't just influence systems, it will influence people.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the HSE Coordinator, you'll provide strategic and operational HSEQ leadership across a diverse portfolio of civil construction projects throughout the Perth metropolitan area.
You'll partner closely with project managers, supervisors and operational teams to provide practical advice, coach leaders, investigate incidents and continually improve HSEQ performance across the business.
You'll also play an integral role in maintaining Densford Civil's Integrated Management System and supporting its ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 accreditations.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll take ownership across a broad range of HSEQ activities, including:
- Providing leadership and technical guidance across multiple civil construction projects.
- Conducting audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
- Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Supporting the ongoing development of Densford's Integrated Management System.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
- Monitoring legislative changes and implementing best practice.
- Mentoring the HSE Advisor and HSE Assistant.
- Building trusted relationships with operational leaders and project teams.
- Supporting organisational accreditations and compliance programs.
About You
You'll be an experienced HSE professional who combines strong technical knowledge with practical leadership. You're not overly corporate, but you know what good safety looks like in the real world and can build trust across all levels of the business.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- 5-10 years' HSE experience, ideally within civil construction or a related industry.
- Diploma or Degree in Work Health & Safety (or similar).
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation.
- Experience working within ISO-certified management systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading investigations, audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach and mentor others.
- Current Western Australian Driver's Licence.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing positive change and developing people, not simply enforcing compliance.
What's on Offer
You'll be rewarded with a competitive salary of $150,000 - $170,000 + Super, together with:
- Company vehicle
- Perth Metro work only | No FIFO or DIDO
- Enjoy a variety with a mix of office-based work and visits to project sites across Perth Metro
- Supportive, experienced team with strong tenure and low turnover
- Modern O'Connor Head Office from September
- Genuine succession pathway into HSE leadership
- Ongoing mentoring for experienced HSE professionals and company-supported professional development, including opportunities to complete Lead Auditor, ICAM, First Aid, Fire Extinguisher and other relevant HSE training
- Opportunity to influence systems, culture and business direction
- Stable long-term career within a respected family-owned contractor
